Πάνδημο μνημόσυνο στο Λονδίνο από τον Επίσκοπο Μελιτηνής υπέρ των πεσόντων στην Κύπρο

Πάνδημα μνημόσυνα για τους νεκρούς που έπεσαν ηρωικώς υπέρ Πίστεως και Πατρίδος κατά την Κυπριακή Τραγωδία του Ιουλίου - Αυγούστου 1974, ετελέσθησαν την Κυριακή, 16 Ιουλίου, σε όλους τους Ιερούς Ναούς της Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπής Θυατείρων και Μεγάλης Βρεταννίας.

Το επίσημο Μνημόσυνο ετελέσθη στον Ι. Καθεδρικό Ναό της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου Wood Green στο Βόρειο Λονδίνο, παρουσία του Προέδρου και μελών της Εθνικής Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, του Πρέσβεως της Ελλάδος και του Ύπατου Αρμοστού της Κύπρου στη Μεγάλη Βρεταννία, των Γενικών Προξένων, του Προέδρου του Συνδέσμου Ελληνορθοδόξων Κοινοτήτων Μ. Βρεταννίας, εκπροσώπων του τοπικού Τύπου και πολλών επισήμων. 

Την Ιερά Αρχιεπισκοπή εκπροσώπησε ο Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκοπος Μελιτηνής κ. Μάξιμος, ο οποίος ομίλησε καταλλήλως στο εκκλησίασμα. Ακολούθησε χαιρετισμός του Προέδρου της Εθνικής Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, κ. Χρήστου Καραολή, και ο πανηγυρικός της ημέρας, τον οποίο εκφώνησε ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο κ. Ανδρέας Κακούρης.

Memorial Service in Wood Green for those who fell in Cyprus

Memorial Services for the dead who fell heroically for Faith and Homeland during the Cypriot Tragedy of July-August 1974, were held on Sunday, 16 July, in all the parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. 

The official Memorial Service was held at the Holy Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos Wood Green in North London, in the presence of the President and members of the National Cypriot Federation of the United Kingdom, the Ambassador of Greece and the High Commissioner of Cyprus in Great Britain, the General Consuls, the President of the Association of Greek Orthodox Communities of Great Britain, representatives of the local Press and many officials.

The Holy Archdiocese was represented by His Grace Bishop Maximos of Melitene, who spoke appropriately to the congregation. A greeting from the President of the National Cypriot Federation of the United Kingdom, Mr. Christos Karaolis, followed, and the keynote speech of the day was delivered by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom, Mr. Andreas Kakouris.
